ABSTRACT

Microalgae have the unique cell factories that convert carbon dioxide into biomass. They require mainly sunlight, CO2, water, and inorganic nutrients for the growth. Cultivation of microalgae does have commercial interest, since it produces bioactive compounds such as cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food, feed, and biodiesel besides mitigating CO2 emission. The overall economics lies in each of the following stages of the process (Figure 4.1).
