ABSTRACT
The system handles requirements for manufacturing particular workpieces as work requests that are organized as entries in work queues. This listing of future job requirements is maintained in a data base. To manage the production of workpieces,the CCS removes entries from these queues, schedules the required tasks at the various workstations, monitors the execution of these tasks and provides continual feedback reports on the operational and task completion status of each work station to the CCS host processor. Also, the CCS coordinates the restocking of raw material and the pickup of finished products at each work station, and the transfer of in-process inventory between the necessary work stations on an as needed basis.
