ABSTRACT

Nanoclays especially montmorillonite (a volcanic material consisting of nanometer thick platelets as a common source for producing nanoclays) have been recognized as a widely used NM in food packaging. Its availability, low cost, signifi cant enhancement in properties, simple processability, and biodegradability makes it as most sort after NM used in manufacture of nanocomposites for food processing (Quarmley and Rossi, 2001,Azeredo, 2009).
