ABSTRACT
The modern scientific system of taxonomy is laid down in the scientific revolution era XVIIcentury by Carl Linnaeus. In his work “Imperium Naturae”, C. Linnaeus manages to reduce through a rank-based scientific method of classification the matter as it is known to man, in three fundamental categories – the three kingdoms: mineral, vegetal and animal.
