ABSTRACT

Log buildings rely on the walls built stacking horizontal la yers of logs, f or resistance to bot h vertical and horizontal loads. The resistance to ve rtical loads depends mostly of the contact area between logs and the strength in com pression perpendicular to the grain, while horizontal loa ds are supported by transverse walls, depending strongly on the friction between the joints.
