ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Co-operations between architects and engineers have been studied too little so far. Nevertheless new architectural solutions need innovative structural thinking to get reali zed. Finland was isolated from other countr ies during the period of t he Second World War. Resources for b uilding were scarce and the sty listic developm ent of the Functional era was cut short. In the reconstruction period of the 1950s.the design and construc tion of new housing areas developed into experimental fields for both new housing types and prefabrication.
