ABSTRACT

In many communities and countries approaching the limits of their available water resources, water reclamation and reuse have become an important and attractive option to conserve and extend available water supply. Water reuse is very important

Preface According to predictions, one of the conicts in the twenty-rst century is a water war. ere are water-related issues such as water scarcity, water pollution, and damages caused by oods and droughts in many parts of the world, especially in developing countries. Some issues include population growth, agricultural development in arid and semiarid regions of the world, growing industries, and uneven spatiotemporal distribution of freshwater. Water quality problems have led the water supply to be a major global challenge of the twenty-rst century. Water resource limitations and water pollution caused by municipal, industrial, and agricultural wastewater have made nations pay extra attention to wastewater management and use new water resources in the context of water resource management. e use of reclaimed wastewater for a variety of purposes such as industrial uses, agricultural and landscape irrigation, and other applications is becoming very common because of a global water shortage particularly in arid zones. e purpose of this chapter is to study urban water reuse for dierent industries and the associated methods including its advantages and disadvantages. In order to enrich the chapter, a case study is investigated at the end of the chapter.
