Introduction

Three-dimensional (3D) optical surface topology measurementtechniques refer to the process of digitizing physical object’s surface topographical information using optical sensors. They are often called 3Dopticalmetrology, 3D shapemeasurement, 3Doptical sensing, 3D imaging, or 3D scanning; and dierent names are used by dierent communities, but they essentially refer to the same process.
