ABSTRACT

Organizations: From a static, prescribed structure to a dynamically co-constructed system Classical theories describing organizations tend to limit an organization to its structure, i.e. a hierarchy and a set of rules that should be applied to achieve desired goals. These theories are at the source of Taylorist organizations, and are still often present in companies to this day (Petit, 2005). In such organizations, the individual appears as a cog in the organizational ‘machine’.
