EVALUATION Evaluation of VPD in patients born with an orofacial cleft begins as soon as articulation of at least some intact oral consonants is present and patient cooperation permits.
This typically begins at 2-3 years of age and must be performed in conjunction with a trained speech pathologist with extensive cleft experience.
