ABSTRACT

This chapter will explore how health promotion can be integrated into everything public health professionals do, thereby maximising an initiative’s health benefit. It provides a refresher of some of the most commonly used health promotion models and frameworks, and how they can be used in practice. Communication is a key aspect

of health promotion, as it is the way in which we aim to inform and ultimately affect behaviour change. Such change can be at the individual, group or societal level, and the approach taken and intervention chosen needs to reflect both who we are targeting and what outcome we are trying to achieve.
