ABSTRACT

Clinicians have an insatiable drive for denitive answers regarding clinical judgements they make every day. ey also hold deep convictions and make clinical decisions based upon experience and training, which can only be shaken (modied) by convincing data. e days of relying upon the ‘chart review’ for guiding clinical practice have passed us by. How, then, can we answer important clinical questions using current tools from the rapidly developing world of outcomes research? is requires the conversion of an interesting clinical observation into an outcomes research question with a testable hypothesis, followed by an outcomes analysis with a research team.
