ABSTRACT
There are around 1,400,000 hot spots contaminated with metals in East Europe alone, mainly coming from the usual application of pesticides, fertilizers, and sewage sludge alongside emissions to the atmosphere caused by mining and metal smelting, waste incineration, etc.
