ABSTRACT

Adequate hemostasis is of utmost importance in neurosurgery to prevent major postoperative bleedings and their consequences. The use of hemostatic agents during surgery has a lot of advantages as they minimize blood loss, improve visualization of the surgical area, save operation time, reduce or avoid blood transfusions, handle anticoagulated patients (i.e., hemophiliacs), decrease postoperation drainage, and decrease length of hospital stay. Controlling bleeding during neurosurgical procedures is a matter of life, because hematoma in the central nervous system in the postoperative course can cause neurological damages, while more copious bleeding can raise intracranial
