ABSTRACT
Cardiac tamponade is a life-threatening condition that requires urgent therapeutic intervention. This chapter covers the role of echocardiography in the detection of pericardial effusion and warning signs of cardiac tamponade as well as the contribution of ultrasound technique in the management of the syndrome.
