Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is one of the most used techniques to treat many forms of cancer. In IMRT, the linear accelerator is equipped with a multileaf collimator (MLC) system. By dynamically moving the leaves, very complex dose distributions can be delivered to the patient; therefore, sucient dose can be delivered to the tumor, while nearby organs and tissues can be spared.
