ABSTRACT
All operating rooms seem the same; patients undergo a variety of open and closed procedures, depending upon the needs of the patients, skills of the providers, and the resources of the community in which the work is being provided. But it is these last two factors that also make some operating rooms different. Most operating room teams coming from high-income countries (HICs) are highly skilled and are accustomed to providing their best work with unlimited, or nearly unlimited, resources.
