ABSTRACT
What do we-or should we-mean by the word big in the phrase Big Data? And to what degree are the problems of Big Data solved, being solved, or have a poor outlook for solution? These questions will be discussed in this chapter, examining some analyses in the research literature along with some simple models, with the goal of clarifying some issues for practical but careful data scientists.
