ABSTRACT

This chapter concerns graphene, the youngest member of the prominent carbon family. In recent decades, many allotropes and forms of carbon have been discovered and explored, including sheets such as graphene (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allotropes_of_carbon). Graphene, having the single layer of graphite, recently attracted much attention because of its potential applications with greatest similarity to carbon nanotubes (CNTs). It is recognized as promising building blocks for nanoelectronic and spintronic devices in the carbon family (Geim and Novoselov 2007).
