ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we conducted an extensive search using the Medline/Pubmed, SJU discover, and Google Scholar databases to identify all relevant studies focusing on both animal and human studies evaluating the effects of laboratory air quality on the reproductive outcome of in vitro cultured embryos. There were no limits placed on the year of publication, but we restricted the search to articles published in English. We also searched among the references of the identified articles and included abstracts published in international conferences. The search combined relevant terms and descriptors related to air quality, clean room, VOCs, embryo development, in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and assisted reproductive technology (ART).
