ABSTRACT

When Chevrolet introduced C5 Corvette in 1997, its chassis was 4½ times sturdier than the chassis in the C4. is was the main reason that the C5 Corvette runs 0.99G on the skid pad versus 0.84G of the C4 and improved its handling to the point where it is competitive with even Porsche sports cars. e new C6 and C7 Corvette improve this to 1.09G and 1.11G, respectively. I can state with a high degree of certainty that not a single person buys a Corvette because of the chassis. It is a necessary feature but always takes a backseat to the ash.
