ABSTRACT

Although only those warriors who have lived through combat understand the impact this experience has on their lives, we can gain insight into the psychiatric casualties by the devastating symptoms these veterans report and the stories they tell. In this chapter, we will recount our experience in treating the psychiatric wounds of combat veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. We will reveal the promise that neurofeedback holds as a method to ameliorate the symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
