5.1 AIMS AND BACKGROUNDS

According to modern conceptions about the mechanism of initialization of cationic polymerization of 2-ethylbutene-1 the true catalyst of this reaction is Lewis’ aqua acids ofthe type AlCl3×H2O, AlCl2C2H5×H2O, BF3×H2O and others (i.e., there are always admixtures of water in the system) out of which due to complex coordinated interactions initiating particle H+δ forms and which is in turn according to Morkovnikov’s rule attacks the most hydrogenated atom of carbon С

2-ethylbutene-1 protonation is the first step in studying of the mechanism of elementary act of initialization of cationic polymerization of this monomer.
