ABSTRACT

Corrections is the last stop for offenders in the criminal justice system. Those who manage and supervise offenders in the correctional system are broadly referred to as correctional workers, and the most common positions are probation officers, correctional officers, and parole officers. Both men and women work in these positions and are responsible for two major objectives: (1) ensuring that offenders do not pose a risk to public safety or themselves and (2) assisting with treatment and services for the many offenders who are in need of rehabilitation.
