ABSTRACT
Despite increased media attention over recent years, mass murder is not a new phenomenon. News media have suggested that mass killings became “a part of American life” aer Charles Whitman climbed onto a tower at the University of Texas and killed 16 total people, including his wife and mother earlier that day in their homes (Mass public shootings 2007).
