ABSTRACT
There has been much ‘talk’ that with the introduction of low energy LED luminaires they may in time replace the traditional fluorescent office light fitting. To date however none of the major suppliers have been able to produce a direct replacement LED style unit for general office illumination. There are claims from ‘less mainstream’ suppliers that they have been able to manufacture a luminaire but as the ‘big boys’ are taking an opposite stance then it must be assumed that these are false claims. That is not to say one will not be produced at some time in the future and the first to do so will have laid the proverbial ‘Golden Egg’.
