ABSTRACT
This was where Andrew Lyne showed his absolute integrity. It would have been so easy to blame instrumental error or computer failure, but he did nothing of the sort; he made an official statement explaining exactly what had happened, and accepting full responsibility for it. All in all, it is fair to say that he and his team emerged from the whole episode with greater credit than they would have done if the planet had really existed.
