ABSTRACT
The Hg lamp reaches a higher power at a lower current compared to the Xe lamp. This is due to a lower electrical conductivity of the Hg lamp compared to the Xe lamp. The higher xenon working pressure does not compensates the effect that the mean transport cross section is an order of magnitude lower than that for mercury at temperatures between 5000 and 6000 K.
