ABSTRACT

Test calculations were performed of the dynamical behaviour of the electrical conductivity, and of the excited and ground state populations of Hg and Ar, for the case of a fixed electric current of 0.4A and a power supply limited to 40W for the cases of cylindrical, ellipsoidal and flat geometry "fluorescent" lamps. In the case of cylindrical geometry, for which experimental data is available, the computed Hg-Ar positive column characteristics were in good agreement with this experimental data.
