ABSTRACT

Wireless. Everyone is talking about it. Who can carry the smallest device with the most options and greatest access? Wireless technologies, though nothing new, are becoming more and more prevalent. Readers of practically any business or computer magazine will find quite a bit of content and advertisements regarding mobile telecommunications. These periodicals are typically geared to both officebased and home-based users. Satellite technology, mobile computing, paging, e-mail, and telephone services are becoming more prevalent and less expensive. These devices include mobile phones, palm devices, and mobile PCs. Using microbrowsers, these devices are able to download wireless application protocol (WAP) documents formatted in wireless markup language (WML) for viewing on a portable screen. Because of the rather small screen on most wireless devices (some are one inch square), it is important to maximize content in a minimalist way.
