ABSTRACT

Comic creators are discovering new challenges and opportunities as they begin to animate their creations online. Editorial cartoonists who originally published their still works online began in the late 1990s to publish animated creations as well. One cartoonist, Pulitzer Prize-winner Clay Bennett, stated, “I can see why Dr. Frankenstein got so excited when his monster came to life. Creating this animation is a lot of fun” (Astor, 1997, p. 36). Bennett’s cartoons are quick to download and rely on two to four panel changes, always with a political statement.
