ABSTRACT

Doesn’t everyone learn in kindergarten to share with peers? As with other terms, sharing takes on a whole new meaning when applied to the world of the Internet. When describing computers and sharing, peer-to-peer architecture allows all connected hard drives to share as equals. Thus any user can access information and programs from any other computer to which he or she is connected. Although share and share alike may sound open and altruistic, it can lead to practices that have less than idealistic goals, with the most famous recent example being Napster.
