ABSTRACT
Patients who suffer from strokes typically exhibit a progressive neurodegenera tion after admission to the hospital. This may be due to a delayed increase of the lesion in their brains, which strongly suggests that apoptosis is involved in stroke, since apoptosis is a delayed process. This delayed neurodegenerative pro cess can last for days or even weeks and provides a time window for the treatment of stroke.
