ABSTRACT
The falling number of suitable disposal sites, the need to treat hazardous indus trial waste instead of dumping it and new laws which encourage the exploitation of waste, like the German ’’Kreislaufwirtschaftsgesetz” (Recycling Law) [1], have caused an increased demand for effective methods of thermal waste treatment. At the same time biomass and waste are becoming more and more important as a cheap fuel which can be used to produce electric power and h ea t.
