ABSTRACT

Type 1 centers are present in the so-called blue copper proteins (BCPs) found in bacteria and plants, as well as in multi-copper enzymes, present in different organ isms [11-14]. The latter also possess a catalytic center, in which one or more non-blue copper ions are involved. The binuclear purple CuA center is the electron entry port of terminal oxidases, and it has not been found in single-domain soluble proteins.
