ABSTRACT
The relationships between the in-plane bending moments Mipb and the rotations are given in Figure lb. Mipb is taken at the intersection of the centrelines of chord and braces. The rotation is defined as the in-plane rotation of the in-plane braces relative to the chord. The mode of failure for the specimens is the plastic failure in the chord faces in combination with initiation of cracks in the chord faces at the weld toe of the brace corners. The ultimate in-plane moments based on the Yura (Yura et al., 1980) deformation limit are determined for specimens X5, DX6, DX7 and DX8, as shown in Table 4 .
