ABSTRACT

Cold bitumen emulsion mixtures posses some advantages over conventional hot mixtures since they are produced and laid at ambient temperatures. They are “friendlier” to the environment, “cheaper” in energy requirements, “safer” to work with, “easier” to mix and handle and they “travel” longer distances. The ease in mixing arise also from the fact that the size and the installation (or reinstallation) time of the mixing plant is much smaller and shorter, respectively, than of a hot mixing plant. Furthermore, cold mixtures can successfully produced by travel plants.
