ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT. Bridge construction has traditionally taken place in either of two ways: by in-situ casting of the bridge parts in moulds or by prefabricating parts at the prefabricating plant, transporting them to the bridge site and assembling them into the final form, often using cranes. The Finnish National Road Administration has initiated development of a new method of bridge construction, which makes use of sprayed concrete technology. The experiences have been encouraging. At this time, several other countries are also interested in the method.
