ABSTRACT

Abstract For the erection of a new multi-functional town quarter in the heart of Berlin, the area of the Potsdamer Platz, the construction of deep building pits with underwater con crete slabs becomes necessary. In order to contribute to the overall construction and operation safety of such a back-anchored underwater slab, it is planned to use steel fi bre concrete for the first time for the construction of these slabs. This paper will give a short report about the large scale underwater and additional test necessary to solve the questions about the workability and material behaviour of the tested concrete mixes. Furthermore, these tests were necessary to satisfy German building regulations for the use of non-codified building materials.
