ABSTRACT
Abstract Heat development in mass concrete can be decreased in many different ways, like use of a low heat cement, a low cement content or a low fresh concrete temperature. It is also common to cool the hardening concrete by use of cooling pipes with cold water. An alternative method to decrease the concrete temperature during the cement hydration is to use an aggregate with high specific heat.
