ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Natural turf has provided a safe, aesthetically pleasing and low cost surface for soccer, rugby and other outdoor sports since those sports began. Apart from the possibly unique exception of field hockey, natural turf has remained the surface of choice for players and spectators.
