ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Centro is new centre for the City of Oberhausen near Dusseldorf in the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Built by the Stadium Group, the complex includes a major retail centre, and associated facilities including the 11,500 seat Arena. The site of the Arena, which includes an ice hockey stadium, is a focal point for leisure in the development, which is linked to the old centre and surrounding districts by a light rail transport system. Buses and trams running every two minutes allow the public to embark and disembark in front of the Arena, promenade and shopping mall. Fifteen million people live within 1 hour travel time of the site.
