ABSTRACT
In recent years, human factors have gained increasing national and international prominence in the nuclear industry. This development is due largely to the occurrence of a number of nuclear accidents; such as Three Mile Island in 1975 and, more recently, Chernobyl. Invariably, a major contributor to the accidents is human error arising from poor safety management and operator-interface design, i.e. a system that does not support adequately the requirements of operators.
