ABSTRACT
Musculoskeletal disorders at work have been estimated to cost UK Industry in the region of £1 billion per annum (1988 figures) (Thompson 1989). The occurrence of such problems could, in many cases, be prevented by incorporating ergonomic principles in the design and layout of plant and equipment.
