ABSTRACT

There are a vast number of compounds in which one or more oxygen atoms are linked to a sulfur centre. The chemical and biological properties of the compound depend on the nature of the substituents on the sulfur and oxygen atoms, and thus the potential scope of this chapter is almost limitless. In consequence the chapter concentrates on the interactions of the main classes of organic sulfur-oxygen compounds and their metabolic precursors.
