ABSTRACT

The study of organisations and their behaviour seems to be as old as civilisation itself. With the coming of the Industrial Revolution the effect of change was noticeably increased. From this time onwards the study of organisations has continued, with all facets of the organisation being researched. Much of this research can be seen as an attempt to understand and rationalise the way in which people, when grouped together, respond to technological change. Systems Engineering or Business Process Re-design can be seen as the latest attempt to reconcile the organisation with the current technology.
