ABSTRACT

In the application of flexible robotic assembly, mating of parts can be quite complex and therefore using active compliance and Feed-Transport-Mate (FTM) methodology from Selke (1988), sensory data is broken down into its generic components suitable for monitoring the process of assembly. The PI method makes use of statistical process control (SPC) and provides an economical method of analysis, data storage, and fulfils product liability requirements. Case studies demonstrate a real time HCI which can intelligently inform current status, process predictions with suitable diagnostics.
