ABSTRACT

Powys’ GIS goal was always a corporate one, involving as many services and users as possible right from the outset. The underlying reason for this was the recognition that the value of any data increases exponentially with the number of users that make their data available and the number of other services that can effectively utilise them. A corporate GIS provided the ideal platform for data integration, effective dissemination, avoidance of duplication and introduction of data standards.
