ABSTRACT
This is not intended to be a comprehensive reading list of books but is intended to cover a broad range of the literature currently available pitched at a level suitable for background reading. Some books available in publishers catalogues have been excluded on the grounds that they are a little too specialist for the intended readership of this volume. Whilst most of the books listed below go well beyond the school curriculum they do provide useful information through selective reading, valuable illustrations, and in addition further contacts, insight and direction as far as the higher education curriculum is concerned.
