ABSTRACT

The research discussed in this chapter has been initiated to support the work of Project Group 5 (PG5) of the European Committee for standardization (CENj TC252jWG6jPG5) and is fully reported by Akerboom et al. ( 1 995) . The aim of PG5 is the harmonisation in Europe of product information for child-care products. Studies previously conducted to support the work of PG5 were aimed at product information in general and at the development and evaluation of comprehensible warning sentences (Hagenaar and Trommelen, 1 992; Trom melen, 1 994, 1 995 ). Here, we discuss the work for PGS on the systematic development and testing of warning symbols for child-care products.
